Sport for body and mind!

Orienteering

What is orientation?

Orienteering is a sport where the participant uses an accurate map and compass to locate checkpoints located in the area. Orienteering can be enjoyed both as a walk in the forest and as a sports competition. You could say that the orientation is a bit like the adventure of searching for belongings that Pippi Longstocking had so much fun with.

Map and compass

Orienteering, or movement in the area, takes place with the help of a compass and a terrain map, which marks the checkpoints of a given distance in the form of circles. The goal - in the shortest possible time, in a predetermined order, visit all checkpoints.

Run your way

The choice of path between checkpoints is not determined and depends entirely on the decision of the participant. It is the planning of the path and the ability to recognize your location on the terrain by the map that is the charm of orienteering sports that distinguishes it from simple cross-country running.
